Johann Daniel Bezler Nov. 2 1745--Nov. 26 1815
Johann Daniel Bezler recently becoming the innkeeper of the "Aal Inn" was married first to Catharina
Elisabeth Hepp on May 10 1785. Her father was Christian Hepp toolmaker. Witnesses to their wedding were
Herr Johannes Simon, burgemeister, and Herr Theador Bezler, "Senator". The title "Herr" shows respect to
important, prominent people.
There daughter was born in January 1786 and his wife, Catharina Elisabeth died March 2 1786. Then
his second marriage was on May 30 1786 to Margaretha Barbara Lautenschlauger. She was the widow of Johann
Michael Engelhardt who was an Innkeeper.
At the time of this marriage Margaretha was 4 or 5 months pregnant. Whether he knew this or not he didn't want
this illegitimate child to have his name, so he divorced Margaretha. After the child was born he married her a second
time on May 29 1787. The first marriage to Margaretha was at the parish and witnessed by Herr Theador Bezler, Senator
and all the other Senators. The second one was at the parsonage witnessed by Georg Balthasar Kochmann, the Sexton.
Margaretha's illegitimate son Johann Heinrich was baptized at the Aal Inn. At this time she stated that the
father of her son was "Herr Chamot" Council to the Duke of Wallerstein, Herr Hof-Rath. Godparents were Sophia Elisabetha,
widow of Mathaus Rieder, tailor.
Did Margaretha and Herr Chamot have an affair or did he take advantage of a widow who was operating the inn of her late
husband?
Daniel and Margaretha had 13 children, 5 of whom lived to be confirmed, 7 dying prior to the age of 14.
Johann Daniel Bezler died Nov. 26 1815 and his wife, Margaretha died June 12 1829.
